Leeds Restaurant week first happened last August, and is brought to us by LeedsBID. LeedsBID (standing for Business Improvement District) was established back in 2015 with the goal of improving the city centre for residents, tourists and commuters. If you’ve sever seen the people wondering around town in bowler hats with yellow stripes that’s LeedsBID.
With Leeds Restaurant Week mere days away, (and feeling suitably hungry) I thought I’d share some of my to picks of the best offers available! I’ve tried to choose some of my favourites and places I want to go, but include independent and smaller venues too. If Leeds Restaurant Week is to, like they say, celebrate the thriving food scene in Leeds I think it could do more to include some of the phenomenal independent restaurants, cafes and venues that we are so lucky to have.
The Lost and Found – 2 Courses for £15:
The Lost and Found is one of my preferred spots in Leeds for food, not just because of the menu but for the relaxed attitude and brilliant service. Opening just in time is a new sister venue Mr Benedict Pike over at The Leeds Club, which is also included in the offer – so use the excuse and check it out! The menu is different at each location, if you’re visiting the Greek Street branch try the Pan Fried Duck Breast, it’s one of my favourites.
12 Greek Street & 3 Albion Place
City centre or Headingley
Buca di Pizza – 3 Courses for £15:
I’ve only been to Buca di Pizza to take advantage of their unlimited pizza and prosecco/beer offer so their Restaurant Week deal has me itching to go back. It’s quite a quiet and somewhat romantic venue hidden away downstairs on Wellington Street, so ideal for a cozy date. If you do go here make sure you try the Rome of the East pizza – it’s sublime! This deal is also great if you don’t fancy heading into the city centre, it’s available in Chapel Allerton too.
City centre or Chapel Allerton
Issho – 2 courses for £10, 3 courses for £15:
Found at the top of Victoria Gate Issho is quickly becoming one of the go to destinations for Japanese food in Leeds. Again I haven’t managed to get myself there yet, so hopefully I’ll get chance next week with the offers on, they have a beautiful terrace though it’s a little too cold at the moment! If I do go I’m definitely not missing out on the baby back pork ribs.
Victoria Gate, LS2 7AU
The Alchemist – Main and cocktail for £15:
One of my ‘go to’ places for a special occasion, The Alchemist is one to try in Leeds – I prefer the Greek Street location for it’s more relaxed atmosphere. During Restaurant Week they are offering a main course and cocktail for £15, which is perfect for a quick shopping break or a light lunch – my recommendation would be the fried chicken.
Greek Street or Trinity Leeds
Neighbourhood – 3 Courses for £15:
Kitted out in New York inspired decor, Neighbourhood is the latest opening on Greek Street. The range on the menu is quite large so there is likely to be something for everyone. I’d pick the chicken lollipops and if you’ve got room the peanut butter waffles too. (I don’t like peanut butter but if you do they sound too good to pass on!)
5 Greek Street, LS1 5RW
Fettle – 2 courses for £10:
Fettle is a Scandinavian inspired cafe which has been on my list to go to since it opened just over a year ago. Their warm and relaxed atmosphere is what looks really inviting, and I really need to try out their fine dining menu too. Having glanced at the menu the toasted gnocchi on cashew nut cream would be my choice!
