An idle day off and the chance for a spot of retail therapy and I knew straight where I was headed. Plastered all across my Instagram for the festival season has been pictures of style icons in Hunter Chelsea Boot style Wellies, and I just had to have a pair!
I’d been looking for some short wellies for a while, and originally had my eye set on a pair of Joules Wellibobs but couldn’t resist the temptation to buy these, especially with a rather nice discount.
The wellies are a plain black design, with the Hunter logo front and centre. The have a handy pull tab for wrestling them on and off too. Someone commented that they look a little like Doc Martins – something that I’m not really into, but I think they’re quite stylish. Once you get your foot in it feels like the welly seals all the gaps and they become a little vacuum for keeping your feet safe and dry.
I must admit these will be a godsend, most days I struggle to get my calves into the pair of tall Hunters that I own as they are non-adjustable. I think sometimes it’s also nice to have something doesn’t consume your whole outfit as tall wellies can sometimes do. The size six did fit, but it was a little too snug, thus I opted for a seven instead, if I’m going to be trudging through the snow in them it would be nice to be able to wear a thick winter sock.
These boots retail at £110, but the amazing team at Glamour magazine had very kindly popped into the August edition a voucher for 25% off at Office. With a satisfying £27.50 off, these boots set me back £82.50.
I bought these from Office in Trinity Leeds (the first purchase I have ever made from that particular shop). The staff were super helpful as I had called ahead the day before and they reserved two sizes for me to try on when I got there.
I’m not a festival/camping person so in my case it’s probably completely the wrong time of the year to be buying wellies, but at this price who can resist?! I have safely stored them away in my wardrobe and cannot wait for the first flecks of snow to appear, which reminds me I must buy a trench coat…
