So as you may have seen I recently signed up to Birchbox, my first delivery arrived last week and I thought I would let you know what I think.
I received six items in the box, half of those being full-sized products, there seems to be a good range and balance of items – not all of them are creams, or lip products and I like that as it gives me a better spread of things to try.
I feel like the box is reasonably good value. I think were I to have a better grasp on makeup and beauty products I would recognise more of the names, and appreciate them more. That understanding will most likely come with time, and me learning but that is exactly what I have set out to do with Birchbox, so right now there are no quibbles from me!
The Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm would have to be my favourite item, I have plenty enough lip balms but this one has mango seed butter in and a slight minty fresh taste too. Though I must admit the Spectrum Collections Tapered Powder Brush would have to be a close second however – the colour of the brush is beautiful, and it has to be the softest brush I have come across.
I’m also looking forward to trying the Model Co More Brows that came in the box, its full size but would still be perfect to fit in a handbag, or to take with you for a weekend away. I had, last month bought two brow pencils to try, but the shades were all wrong, and I just looked silly, so hopefully this will be a better place to start.
The Polaar Polar Night Cream and Rituals Ta’ai Chi Foaming Shower Gel were also in my box, I haven’t tried them yet but they both smell nice, I’m going to switch them into my routine for a few days and see what I think. There’s also a sample of Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Reconstructing Masque for hair which is meant to be a rescue treatment – I’ve only just been to the salon so I will wait a few weeks before trying this one for maximum effect.
I think how this might work in future is that I’ll do a quick post when my box arrives each month – although hopefully a little sooner after it lands through the letterbox than this one. Later each month I will post a review of the box and products so I’m not making a snap judgement, and include a look forward to the next box too.
I really adore the design on this month’s box with the word search, you’re encouraged to highlight all the words that you can find but being me I don’t even want to get a mark on it – it’s far too nice! I’ll be keeping my Birchboxes and trying to find a way to reuse them as they need to be seen.
Included in the box was a sneak peek of the April edition which I am ecstatic to announce is a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co which I cannot wait for. I have a small collection of their cards which I want to frame and display when I move out. The illustrations and patterns are beautiful, and Birchbox are offering the choice between two box Rifle Paper Co designs for April too!
Don’t forget if you want to sign up to Birchbox you can use my referral code, simply follow this link, sign up as you would usually and you’ll get £5 of points to spend in the Birchbox store.
The build a Birchbox pop-up will also be in Selfridges in the Trafford Centre until April 9th, so you could always give it a go there. I’ve been wanting to go back to the Trafford Centre for a while, so you might even bump into me there as I’m keen to try it out too!
Have you received an April Birchbox, or have you tried any of the brands I received? – please let me know!
