As this is a new blog for me, and I wanted to write about all things, particularly those I find in Boots, I thought it would be best ease myself in by writing about fragrances. I’m not confident with make up, and spend my mornings putting it on and then taking it straight off before leaving the house with only moisturiser and matte powder on. So fragrances, for me, represent the things I can buy with confidence, it’s not quite make up, but putting on a good perfume sets me up for the day nicely…
I have a total of fifteen perfumes, my first ever being the Miss Dior, which was a birthday gift from my parents, it’s almost empty, which is why I have a new one in reserve. The only two not pictured here are incarnations of DKNY’s Be Delicious.
Obviously I don’t keep my perfumes as pictured, for the most part they’re all in their original boxes in my bedside cabinet, as perfumes should be kept out of direct sunlight – so as nice as they look on the shelf it’s worth putting them away to look after them. I have also read that they should be kept in the fridge, but I don’t think that would go down well with my parents!
I usually opt for eau de parfums over eau de toilettes, I know they’re a little more expensive but I tend to find the scents last longer in EDPs and are more noticeable so I end up spraying less – or so I say, I’ve probably been fooled somewhere along the line knowing me. I also usually try and go for bottles that are no bigger than 75ml, this is because it makes them so much easier (and lighter) to have them in my bag on the go all day, I find that I use my perfumes that are 100ml in size less as I tend not to pick them for the day because of that very reason.
Most of my collection I have bought, aside from a few, though some enough I was lucky enough to win last year when I won Glamour Magazine’s entire Beauty Power List 2015! (which was amazing, though I don’t know what to do with it all!)
These are the the three perfumes I kept from my win which included ten perfumes, there were a couple of others from the list I liked, however some I gave away as gifts and there might be one or two hiding in the bottom of my wardrobe hoping everyone else forgets about them, particularly Marc Jacobs Decadence, but sssh!
Giorgio Armani Si is the one I can’t get enough of right now, it’s so good for at work, on an evening or everyday use and it’s gotten me a couple of compliments which is always good!
The Dolce & Gabbana and Floral Drops Eau De Toilette and Dior Miss Dior Eau De Parfum 30ml are the most recent additions to my collection. The Miss Dior is to replace my other which is on it’s last legs, and the Floral Drops was a bit of an impulse purchase, but smells delightful. It’s a little extravagant, but I managed to get both free using my Boots points! I had over £100 in Boots points through some prolonged clever shopping, I always use double or free points vouchers when I can and never spend my points on little things like lunch or drinks. These are the second and third perfumes I have paid for entirely with points – if you don’t believe me have a look!
